2014 is here, and I’m sure most of you have made your new year’s resolutions. The most common new year’s resolution in America is dieting/losing weight, followed by exercising.
When it comes to your home, you should also consider including some new habits into your new year’s resolutions as well. Here’s some household tasks that will help make your 2014 easier to manage:
1.) Touch it once rule. Want to know how your home becomes cluttered? Easy! You put something down and say, “I’ll deal with that later”. Whenever you touch something in your home, take care of it right then. If it’s something you’re keeping, store it away in its proper place. If it’s something you aren’t going to keep, throw it away! Your home will stay clean each day, without a lot of effort.
2.) 10 minute cleaning sessions. It’s much easier to keep your home clean when there isn’t much cleaning to do. Spend 10 minutes a day cleaning one part of your home, and you won’t have to spend 3 hours every Saturday cleaning. Make a cleaning schedule, and stick with it each day.
3.) Meal planning. One of the best ways to save money is to plan out your meals for the week, and only buy the food that you need. Consider making meals that will last for 2 or 3 days, so that you don’t have to cook so often.
4.) Home maintenance. Focus on those home maintenance tasks that you’ve been putting off, and get them done now. Maintaining your home constantly is the best way to ensure that your appliances and home remain in good condition.
